Huge shout-out to Mrs. Amanda Gunnels for her hard work and creativity for writing and being awarded a Bright Ideas Grant for our project, "A Closer Look at Agriculture!"
Thanks to this grant, students will use microscopes to explore the hidden world of agriculture - from examining soil and seeds to observing tiny living organisms up close. These hands-on discoveries will help our young scientists connect what they see in the classroom to the natural world around them.
Thank-you to Southern Rivers for this Bright Ideas grant to support innovative learning opportunities for our students.

Last year, we started a project that quickly grew into a heartwarming experience for everyone involved. We are excited to continue this meaningful project for the 25-26 school year. Each grade level at ULPS has adopted a local nursing home, building connections through letters, craft, and acts of kindness. This meaningful project teaches students the value of caring for others and shows how even small gestures can bring joy to both the giver and the receiver. Our royal students are learning that kindness truly makes a difference!

We are excited to announce that we will host our annual ULP Literacy Day event during the month of December. We would love to have students from each class participate. Please help your student select a poem and begin practicing now.
The rules and judging criteria will be very helpful when helping your child memorize and recite his/her poem. You may want to keep this part of the letter and just return the bottom portion to school.

No props or costumes allowed.

No songs or lyrics.
No pieces cut from a longer poem.
No longer than five minutes.

Our students kicked off their first agriculture lesson by exploring the life cycle of a fish! Each child had the chance to observe a fish up close with a magnifying glass and write their observations in their journals. They were amazed to touch a real adult catfish, smell and feel catfish food, and learn how fish breathe underwater. It was a hands-on, exciting start to our journey in agricultural science!
