It's time to learn about Habitats at ULPK, Ms. Jennifer's class has been working. Building trees for the birds in the Rainforest. Jungle animals! Correctly ordering the letters in our names to create Desert camels. King investigating a seashell and hearing the ocean in it.

Mrs. Angela and Ms. Mori's class having fun making shaped snowflakes.

This smart little “frog” is using his “tongue” to catch some alphabet flies! Then he has to tell Mrs. Ashley the letter and sound before he can color it.

Today was all about frogs and pond life in Mrs. Ashley’s class. Mrs. Krystal’s small group rolled two dice, found the sum, and fed their frog that many flies. The flies looked so real!! Counting one item at a time is an important skill we are working on to prepare us for kindergarten!

Mrs. Ashley and Mrs. Krystal’s class began learning about the pond habitat today. In small groups we pretended to be frogs eating flies by using party blowers for our “tongue”. The children had to name the letter and their sound on each fly and then color them. Our other small group worked on nonstandard measurement using paper clips to measure fish. We also lined them up from smallest to biggest.

Mrs. Ranow's class are busy making water color winter hats

We have been so excited to host all of these VIP readers in the last few weeks. We plan to have many more this coming month as well. We thank them all for coming and reading to each class!

After consultation with the Sheriff’s Office, local EMS, and the TU transportation department, we have made the decision to close school again tomorrow, Friday, January 24. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution for our buses, parent/staff drivers, and our young student drivers who may be driving themselves to school on secondary roads that could be icy and dangerous in the morning after refreezing overnight. As you know, we will always put student and staff safety first when making decisions such as this one. All schools will return to a regular schedule on Monday, January 27. Thank you for your support of Thomaston-Upson Schools!
