Every Day Matters. Every Absence Counts.
At Thomaston-Upson Schools, we know that being in class each day is one of the greatest predictors of student success. Every lesson, every discussion, and every connection with teachers and classmates helps students grow academically and personally.
We understand that appointments and family trips are sometimes necessary. That's why we've created this guide to help families plan ahead and take advantage of our scheduled school breaks whenever possible. By planning vacations during these opportunities, students can enjoy valuable family time while minimizing missed instructional days.
A few missed days each month can quickly add up, making it harder for students to stay on track. Working together, we can help every student make the most of every school day.
Take a look at the graphic below for built-in opportunities throughout the school year to schedule appointments and family travel.
Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority. Together, we can help every student succeed—because every day counts!

Tug of War champs!

Beautiful day for sidewalk graffiti and games of Tic-Tac-Toe!

Teacher Appreciation fun has kicked off at ULPK. Thanks to Longhorn for gift cards and Valley Grove Baptist Church for the chic-fil-a biscuits. We’re playing a fun guessing game too!

Mrs. Ashley and Mrs. Krystal’s class are showing off their name-writing skills. ✏️

The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We all made caterpillars and placed them on leaves. Each day, the caterpillars had eaten holes in our leaves. Two weeks ago, we came in and there were cocoons! Today we opened them and our caterpillars had turned to butterflies!😍

In this activity, students practice writing their names in lowercase letters and then use capital letter stickers to spell their names again. This reinforces letter recognition, strengthens handwriting skills, and helps students understand the connection between uppercase and lowercase letters.
