Starting tomorrow, our school will implement a new weapons detection system. All students and visitors will be required to walk through this system upon entering the building.
To help keep arrival smooth and efficient, we ask that students:
Wear their backpacks on their backs
Have binders in their hands to give to school personnel
Bus riders and car riders will receive guidance from bus drivers and school personnel when they arrive.
Through testing, we’ve learned that certain items can trigger the system, including:
Metal eyeglass cases
Metal pencil boxes
Flashlights
Umbrellas
Binders
These items do not need to be left at home — students are welcome to bring and use them. However, to ease the screening process, students should hold these items in their hands and be ready to hand them to a staff member before passing through the detector.
We understand this is a change and may create minor inconveniences. We appreciate your patience and support as we take steps to ensure a safer school environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and positivity!
