The Georgia Department of Education has released its 2025 College and Career-Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) results, highlighting key areas of strength and opportunities for continued academic growth in schools and districts across the state. The CCRPI includes five components: Content Mastery, Progress, Closing Gaps, Readiness, and, for high schools, Graduation. The 2025 Content Mastery, Progress, Readiness, and Graduation Rate components are comparable to those the district received in 2024. The Closing Gaps component is not comparable between 2024 and 2025, as 2024 flags did not include mathematics due to the implementation of new mathematics standards and assessments in the 2023-2024 school year.

Upson-Lee Primary School (ULPS)

CCRPI scores for K-2 schools are calculated using 3rd-grade ELA and Math Milestones scores. ULPS reported a slight drop in the Content Mastery score of 57.1 due to a decline in 3rd-grade mathematics proficiency; however, there was notable growth in third-grade ELA. The weighted ELA score increased by 3.63 points, and reading-on-grade-level improved by approximately 6.55 percentage points. The school’s Readiness score rose to 85.7, supported by strong attendance, improved reading proficiency, and a perfect 100% Beyond the Core score. The Closing Gaps score, which measures growth for student subgroups such as white, black, Hispanic, multiracial, and students with disabilities, dropped to 29.2 due to decreases in subgroup performance on 3rd-grade mathematics. A Progress score, which measures growth from students’ prior performance on an ELA and Math Milestones assessment, is not provided to K-2.

Upson-Lee Elementary School (ULES)

ULES earned a Content Mastery score of 61.2, a slight drop from the 2024 score. Though the year-to-year Content Mastery scores declined, student cohort data showed growth across multiple grade levels in both ELA and Math, indicating student proficiency is increasing as they move through the grade levels. The school’s Readiness score increased to 84.3, remaining above the state average and driven by improvements in grade-level reading, student attendance, and success in elective courses. While the Progress score (87.8) remains a district strength, the Closing Gaps score (21.1) declined significantly, reflecting statewide challenges in meeting subgroup improvement targets.

Upson-Lee Middle School (ULMS)

ULMS posted substantial gains in 2025, including a 1.7-point increase in Content Mastery (51.6) and an impressive 8.9-point increase in Progress (79.1), driven by increased student achievement in reading and math. Math performance stood out as a strength, with all subgroups showing improvement and at-risk groups earning additional points for meeting key targets. The Closing Gaps score dropped to 46.2, indicating that achievement gaps persist across subgroups. The school’s Readiness score rose to 81.9, supported by gains in grade-level reading, improved attendance, and success in Beyond the Core coursework. ULMS remains focused on strengthening eighth-grade Science and Social Studies while also closing performance gaps for students with disabilities.

Upson-Lee High School (ULHS)

ULHS demonstrated notable progress, including a Combined Graduation Rate of 92.6%, up 2.1 points from last year. The Content Mastery score dropped slightly to 55.1; however, the school saw improvement in US History Content Mastery. The Progress Score, which measures student growth since the most recent ELA or Math Milestones test, dropped to 66.9. The Readiness score increased to 77.4, driven by higher percentages of students reading on grade level, student attendance, accelerated enrollment, and college and career readiness (end-of-pathway assessments, work-based learning, and student performance on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery-ASVAB). At ULHS, school leaders are directing future improvement efforts toward American Literature, Algebra: Concepts and Connections, and Biology.

District Perspective

District leaders noted that although several results show meaningful progress—particularly in year-over-year student growth—important work remains. The district saw clear gains in the percentage of students reading on grade level, improved ELA and math performance at Upson-Lee Middle School, strong growth in U.S. History, rising high school readiness indicators, and a graduation rate approaching 93%. Reducing achievement gaps among student subgroups remains a central focus. To support this effort, the district will focus on district-wide professional learning, monitoring high-impact instructional strategies and targeted instructional interventions, and closely monitoring classroom instruction to drive the next phase of improvement.
